Accommodation PSA Info
Here are The Accommodation PSA recording instructions provided by the Big D Reads Committee, and here is the script you’ll need to read. Please record your video by 08/05.
The tone of the video is “optimistic urgency.” We want you to keep in mind the seriousness of the subject matter, but also invite people to read and share this book with the community. This means finding a balance between a somber tone and a big smile. If possible, send us three different tones and styles of you reading the script for us to pull from.
We’re asking each person to read and record the full script. As we’re intending to choose the best line from each person, we’ll need you to read with pauses and take care not to trail words into each other or add an upwards inflection at the end of lines. The line starting with “This year, we are printing and distributing,” should be read with a slow cadence as many people will be edited in to read this line. We also ask that you pause between “September” and “2022” as the edit used during 2022 will not include the year, but an archived version will omit “This year.”
In choosing a place to record, we’ll need it to be as quiet as possible, eliminating sounds of voices, animals, machines (including A/C), etc. Try to keep your background to something neutral like a solid-colored wall to minimize distractions. Wear a solid black top (any style is fine). Try to keep lighting at eye level to minimize dark shadows.
